MAKE IT HOME
MAKE IT HOME
This is a statement to a way of life. To do everything in your power to Make IT Home to your family at the end of the day. I know what you're thinking, and yes, everyone has this goal when they leave home and go to work. But YOU, as a first responder, are not everyone else. You have devoted your life to the service of others. You may have the easiest day you've ever had or the worst. Your goal is to have those days and Make IT Home at the end of your shift.
Now, what type of a statement are YOU making?
Did you put in the time and energy to exercise today? This week? This month? You don't have to be a bodybuilder or world class athlete, but you have to be able to perform your job. Can you chase that suspect far enough to catch them? Can you hold on to them to place them in custody? Can you run up the flight of stairs in turnout gear or pull the hose line during a fire? Worst of all, can you pull your injured partner to safety? Did you put in any extra training recently? Did you do enough during your last training session or do you need more? Have you prepared your mind enough for stressful and different situations that you will face?
Only YOU can answer these questions. You have to look inward and ask yourself have you done enough? Do you need to do more? We work and live in a profession that everyday is different but can be the same. But unlike the rest of the world we have to be prepared for those bad days. Those days when we will be put to the test and WE must excel. So, if you can sit there and honestly say that you have done enough then my hat is off to you. Most of us, including myself, have more work to do! I encourage each of you to live your life to the fullest and put every effort you can to MAKE IT HOME!!!
